A Hands-On Class for Families to Learn About Pigs and Agriculture

Join us for a fun and educational Pig-tastic class, where families will embark on a journey to learn about pigs and agriculture through engaging stories and hands-on activities. The class begins with delightful children's books that introduce key agricultural concepts in an accessible and entertaining way. Following the story, families will dive into interactive investigations and activities designed to deepen their understanding of pigs and their role on the farm.

Topics Covered in the Class:

1. Sustainable Agriculture: Learn about the role of pigs in sustainable farming practices, including their contribution to soil health and waste management.

2. Environmental Stewardship: Understand the importance of environmentally friendly farming practices. Families will explore how pigs help maintain a balanced ecosystem and contribute to sustainable farming.

3. Healthy Eating: Discover how pigs are raised for food and the importance of humane treatment and healthy diets for farm animals. This helps families make connections between farm practices and the food they eat.

4. Animal Husbandry: Gain insights into the daily care and management of pigs, including their feeding, housing, and health needs. Learn about the different breeds of pigs and their unique characteristics.

5. Community Engagement: Explore how farming practices can strengthen community bonds and support local food systems. Families will learn about the significance of farms in their communities and how they can get involved.

 

This dynamic class offers a perfect blend of literacy and experiential learning, making agricultural education both fun and memorable. The class lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Suggested donation is $10 per person.
